Save North Stainley Footpath

We miss this walk. It was a lovely way to West Tanfield.

I walk in this area a lot and have enjoyed doing so for 21 years . To not have access to this area would be a huge loss to this area . Please allow us to continue to enjoy this vital space . Thank q in anticipation Helen jackson

As a lover of walks and local wildlife I am saddened to see the closure of the footpath in North Stainley. We can no longer take our dog for long walks and feel a presence of hostility towards the local people with gates nailed shut and barbed wire put in place. We are now unwelcome on this once beautiful public footpath.

This was my favourite walk. Spotting herons patrol the river, the odd fish splash about. Down through the wild garlic in the forest. Greeting other walkers with a smile. Now just a memory.

Having lived in the village for thirty years, we were very sorry to see this footpath closed: it is part of a beautiful walk for us and brings back many happy memories of our dog walking days. There are not many accessible walks in our village, PLEASE re-instate it for the benefit of our local community.

Footpaths are vital for many people as they provide fantastic free recreation for families young and old. The physical and mental health benefits are enormous.

Of course reinstate the footpath, it's a no brainer.

This is a much-missed right of way for so many locals and visitors alike. There are few safe places for walking, running and dog-walking in North Stainley and this off-road path was ideal and well-used.

I have walked this path for 17years regularly over the years I feel we have lost a great asset to the village and would like it reopened for future generations to enjoy.

Really important footpath for the village that needs to stay.

We have lived in the village for 21 years and have enjoyed many dog walks around Dunkirk field, and as a member of staff at the Primary School have helped out at after school running club around the field. It was a wonderful asset, sadly missed.

I used to use this footpath often, for pleasurable walking and reasons of health. I would love to see it reinstated and preserved for all.
