There is so much so wrong with the threat of closure to this great club.
The guys who run this place (Earnie, Derek, Mark & other coaches) have given hours and years of their own time to ensure that anyone going through the doors of the boxing club are all looked after. Hundreds of kids have come off the streets and given somthing to focus on. They have been given somthing positive to strive towards and made to feel like they are achieving worthwhile things.
In a time when we are told about obesity problems and failing youth it is criminal to suggest closing such places.
Birmingham City Council you should be ashamed of yourselves.
Rob.

This is vital for the young people. They love it here and the work that the trainer's put in is amazing. Keeps them off the street's and being proactive and doing something positive. How could you close this !!!

I attended Nechells Boxing Club for many years from the age of 12 and at a time when I was lost due to losing my dad. Nechells Green Boxing Club, Ernie, Derek and every single person in that gym became my family and taught me more about myself and life than anything else could have ever done. I moved out of the area to serve my country like others before me, but I will be eternally grateful for this club and everybody in it. If the council want to help build bridges between communities then don't remove the foundations you plan to build them on. Keep Nechells Green Boxing Club alive.
