Having canoeing in the river I can’t see how that is going to be possible after removing the damn. The damn looks to be around 8 feet in height.
What happens west of the damn looks to be a major drop in water depth.
Open the locks up now and look at what will be before taking it out.
This affects all on the river west of the damn.
Maybe other towns will help out with the costs when they see what happens to their area.

I have enjoyed the Natick Falls and it's local environment and wildlife, ever since my family moved to Natick in 1968.
Many years ago, while taking photography classes, I made a few trips to the Falls for photography-related reasons.
Since then, when possible as a Framingham native, I still make time to visit the Falls.
The Natick Falls are a local treasure. They provide a unique habitat for wildlife. It draws photographers and out-of-town visitors to the town, who will also be able to shop/eat at/enjoy other, local venues, thus helping to support Natick's economy/income producing opportunities, etc.
I realize removing trees is not an inexpensive undertaking, but in this case, I believe it to be worth the investment, for a multitude of reasons, some of which, I've mentioned above.
The Falls is not a stand-alone 'attraction'. Nearby, local farms, orchards, and a Natick Audubon sanctuary exists. Meaning, there is a draw for locals, non-locals, and tourists, to visit South Natick.
This in turn provides more visibility of the Falls existence, beauty, and importance to the local environment.
I urge the Town of Natick to invest in what I think, is an important river feature with accompanying park.
It's continued existence is important on many levels, and so I believe it's important to support and maintain it.

I own wetlands just over the rte 16 south natick line in Sherborn. We have a tributary that feeds the Charles. Taking out that dam will affect our water levels and water table that feeds our well. It could affect wildlife and vegetation that has thrived with the dam's existence.
