Dear Narrow River Kayaks Customers and Friends, Narrow River Kayaks is in danger of being replaced by another outfitter! In 2012 the Town of Narragansett, RI purchased the property where local business Narrow River Kayaks has existed since 1992. Recently, the Town decided to put the property out to bid for a five-year lease of the property as a Paddle Sports Business Concession. This is the exact same type of business that has been successfully operated on the property for the past 21 years. Much to my dismay, another operator in the area, the Kayak Centre of Wickford and Charlestown, came ahead of me in the bid process. There is, however, a clause in the agreement that states that the award does not necessarily go to the highest bidder and may be awarded based on what is deemed to be in the best interest of the Town of Narragansett. On Monday, October 7, 2013 in a Town Council Meeting at 7:30 at Narragansett Town Hall, the Narragansett Town Council will have the final vote. As the owner of Narrow River Kayaks for the past seven years, I have strived to make this establishment a place where families, friends, schools, churches, camps, non-profit groups, corporations, visitors to the area and locals can safely enjoy the wonderful and unique Pettaquamscutt Watershed at a fair price. We have also supported and collaborated with various groups and organizations throughout the community and beyond. We employ locals and individuals with experience in the paddle sports industry. We also emphasize excellent customer service, education, and safety. We have a proven track record and are very familiar with this particular body of water and the surrounding area. If you would like for Narrow River Kayaks to stay, please sign this petition stating you are in support of the Narragansett Town Council awarding the bid for use of the property at 94 Middlebridge Road, Narragansett, RI 02882 for a Paddle Sports Business Concession to its current resident, Narrow River Kayaks, LLC.
