This petition is to help save Nala & Bugger from being euthanized per Michigan's antiquated Dog Law 1919. Our story: In the beginning of May we managed to get out of our home and just ran. We are accused of entering a barn in Lambertville MI and "killing" 2 pigs. There is no proof of either of us doing so - other than being caught in the barn. According to Michigan's DNR - there are hundreds of sitings of coyote's and other animals that could take down a pig in the area. The pigs weighed roughly 100 to 125lbs. We weigh roughly 90 lbs together. A story was ran in the Monroe Evening News about us which depicts a carnage that did not happen based on the owners account. This owner had the right to choose if we live or die. At our hearing the prosecutor requested that we are NOT to be put down but the victim said it was for the money. Our insurance company offered her $5200 for the value of the pigs. She wants $45,000.00. We our loved, we are licensed and micro-chipped. We made a mistake but is it worth our lives? What we did was wrong by being in the barn. It is believed that there is more to this story other than what the pig owner claims. The pictures, the police report, the news story - when laid out and looked at does not make sense to what is claimed. A picture is worth a thousand words and none of them show what has been stated. We can't speak for ourselves and we need you to. I am sure if we were her dogs and did something like this that she would want us home. Michigan has an antiquated law of dogs "killing" livestock and that we CAN BE put to death. The court left the decision to the owner of the pigs......... She is the only one who can still save us.
