The Music PGCE at Durham University is NOT running in the year 2014/5, and there seems to be no sign of it reappearing. Durham University was renowned for it's fantastic Music PGCE, and it is a crying shame that so many aspiring music educators will lose out because of the closure of this program. The PGCE teaches aspiring teachers to question their own practice, and improve on it, combining academia with work placements in schools, gaining both insight into the debates and issues affecting teachers as well as first-hand experience in the field. This petition is to show that there is a high demand for this course to run, so that hopefully, it will be brought back.
