Muddy Water's South Side Chicago home is in danger of being demolished. The house, that was once the hub of Chicago blues, was deemed by the City of Chicago as "dangerous", with windows, porch, doors, and stairway in need of proper maintenance. A letter, dated January 11th, is the first step in the court order that would allow the demolition of the home.
The South Side home is not just a house; it is an American music LANDMARK. If the walls could talk they could tell stories about legendary jams featuring Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Chuck Berry, Otis Spann, Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, James Cotton, and countless others.
It should be noted that the property is currently owned by descendent of Muddy Waters. This petition was not started by the owners. We wish to see the property operated as a 501(c)(3) museum and educational facility.

Come on Chicago home of the Blues, the foundations on which Rock and Roll was built any you guys want to 'huff and puff' and tear down the home of a legend among legends! Wow how dumb is that?
Save this important historical landmark. It's Black History Month. The time to act is now.
This is Sweden calling, be PROUD of your American heritage, the whole world is waiting for results!
For a great number of people-around the country and the world-Chicago is the sound and legacy of Muddy Waters. You can go to Liverpool and visit the early homes of John, Paul, George, & Ringo, but those boys would have been NO WHERE without Muddy Waters & Chess Records. Do the right thing, make Muddy's home a place for all to come to Chicago and pay their respects.
We have already lost too many historically important places to do with music, we can't lose any more that are left, please preserve this place!
This is a historical site that can never be replaced if lost. We must stick together
