Mr. Carnine should be honored for his fine teaching and dedication--27 years-- to his students by LAUSD and the whole country. It is not hyperbole to consider him a national treasure. He truyly is once in a "life time teacher". My son, Kaveh Majd, who is currently in high school considers him as of his best teacher! He taugh him about injustice, civil rights and racism and was more vocal against injustice. This truly is alarming and travesty that a twisted preception/false accusation of one student can destroy Carnine's nearly 30 years of exemplary teaching and more importantly disturb and deprive all other students from the experience of fine teaching....Please reinstate him immediately.

Mr. Carnine has been one of the most wonderful, considerate, and knowledgeable teachers that my sons have had in middle school. He has been one of the most encouraging teachers at the very sensitive time of a child's life, which is middle school. We cannot thank him enough for the positive influence and encouragement he has had on our kids. He is a man of high morals and integrity. Thanks again, Mr. Carnine, for everything you have done. He not only taught the bare minimum, but took education a step further and provided his students with historical perspectives that gave context to the events being discussed, explaining how the events of the past have caused reverberation that affect the present. By not accepting the realities of the past, we can never learn to overcome them by addressing them. Knowing Mr. Carnine, I can say with the utmost confidence that anything said in class was not a personal value statement, but rather a reflection of history and its affects today. It’s completely possible that these statements were misinterpreted, but even if that were so, the better way to deal with this situation would be to have a private conversation instead of going immediately to litigation. Mr. Carnine is one of the most upstanding, sensitive, intelligent mentors from whom I’ve ever had the privilege of learning, and I’m not going to stand aside when I feel that he’s been unjustly accused of something he didn’t do.

I had Mr. Carnine as my 6th grade teacher, and have never had a better teacher since. He is a fantastic educator and person; I specifically remember him condemning racist stereotypes in my class and believe that the accuser is taking his words out of context. His past merits and years of amazing work should be considered when determining the validity of these one time accusations.

Steven is my brother. I grew up with this AMAZING, LOVING, BRILLIANT, MOST NON-PREJUDICIAL PERSON that I have EVER met in my life. Steven is an earth angel, an educator, a civil rights supporter and once when young actively on the front lines as an advocate for all human rights. This is who he is ALWAYS, just as he was before, now, and will be despite these erroneous allegations! He will only come out of this loving and caring for all even more than he ever did before! He role-modeled love to me all my life. Anything you read that is negative and attached to my brother IS FALSE! If his teaching record has been clean for 25 years & he has other students vouch for him, then maybe the school board or judge should look into the academics of the accusing students. who's to say they aren't just failing the class & want to play the blame game by saying a teacher is racist? These are very serious allegations.
