Mother’s matter is such a hub for new and second time mothers. It is such a focal point in the community, from counciling sessions to baby classes.

I attended baby groups at Mother's Matter (when my son was younger) and they create such a lovely, welcoming and safe environment. The groups helped me feel less alone with my struggles as a first time mum. The ladies who work there are so kind and compassionate. This is really needed in Tonypandy!

Mothers matter is a vital scheme to support parents through challenging aspects of the perinatal and postnatal period. It provides support and a place of saftey and not only benefits parents, but also the children and wider community.

I think without mothers matter my journey into motherhood would have been very different. When I first became a mum I was pretty new to the area, I had no friends and was very isolated and honestly didn't have a clue what I was doing and now realise I was probably suffering from PPD. Mothers Matter offered me a safe space to meet other mums, talk to other mums and a place where I felt normal, a place that told me I was an amazing mum and made me feel like it! They are always super friendly and supportive 3 months into motherhood I had an a very serious eptopic pregnancy and almost lost my life. Without mother matter I don't think I could have gotten through that, they were a shoulder to cry on and a ear that listened or someone to hold the baby while I had a hot cuppa. They really are all super stars down there now my little girl is 20 months old and mothers matter has been a huge part of mine and hers life. We thank you so much ladies x

Without the help of Mothers Matter I wouldn’t be the mother I am now. After 8 years of infertility, a successful fertility journey followed by a difficult pregnant and traumatic birth, I was left with post-natal mental health issues that I’d never even considered would ever affect me. Mothers matter was a safe space for me to have my moments of upset, to share my hardships, but to also make new mum friends who understood, who became my lifeline when I needed help and even share the moments that made me remember who I was and why I was a good mother. My journey is forever down to the support I had from the team at MM and the support I still receive by going to groups, talking openly about my wellbeing, asking for advice and also enjoying my time when I’m there and making memories with my daughter. I will forever be greatful to them and I know so many other women and families also feel the same way. We need them. To lose this safe space will not only affect me, but hundreds of others that use this amazing charity to help them through their journey into parenthood.

Mothers Matter has been a community for me since having my first child! Suffering with the baby blues & feeling low after a tough pregnancy, labour & first 6 weeks of my little one’s life (due to reflux & colic) being able to come to Mothers Matter and meet mams who made me feel like I weren’t the only one feeling these feelings or with a baby having issues, made me feel so much better mentally!!!

Mother’s matter do so much for families in the local community. I have attended a few events there. I really benefited from counselling with them when I was struggling.

Having been a worker in a children's centre I know what a vital resource these spaces are, helping parents spot any issues early to get intervention needed before school, and crucially giving one another support friendship and laughter, better than any antidepressants the doctor can prescribe.

I am really surprised that something that has worked so well in our comunity is under pressure of closing. I really hope that we will be able to keep this well needed place open for many years to come to surve our Parents and young families .
