Hello alumni of John Jay High School. Due to Covid-19, the recruitment phase for electives has been cut short for the following school year. As a result, the Mexican American Literature Program did not meet the required number of students to remain intact. The class was an incredible experience rich with opportunities to speak with Mexican American authors, artists and musicians. It also provided us with networking and public speaking experience. Our educational system deprives us of stories from a Hispanic perspective, and this program does wonders to rectify that. It showed us how to be proud of our heritage, and gave us stories to hold onto. I ask you all for your assistance today. Spread the word about MAS-LIT (Mexican American Studies - Literature), and convince John Jay that it's worth keeping. Everyone deserves to have the opportunity to experience this amazing program.
