Malik should NOT be punished for defending himself! He has been bullied for too long! Shame on the Taylor schools and the principle!

I hate that I didn't take a stance when this happened to my son when he was in high school. Almost the same exact scenario defending himself but not as harsh of a punishment. Therefore if it happened yrs ago to my son and this type of punishment is still going on.....UHM NEED I SAY MORE!

This has always been a problem. The summer of my on coming jr yr i got in a fight. In da summer and seeing that i was goin to go to school nxt yr then i had to start in alternative school for 90 days.. Had nothing to do with school or even on campus. I applaud yuu for taking a stand and putting action behind it... bright future for Malik and da town standing behind him. I wish da best of luck. Da kid picking on em doe, had to of had some balls.

I'm praying for a better outcome because 45 days is a tad excessive. At the most BOTH students should get 3 days and a group talk with the guidance counselor so things can finally be squashed.

Well are the coaches doing anything to keep this from happening? If the kid was in the locker room and don't play football he was in the wrong place from starter. He's intense were to pick on him.

In a culture where we are quick to judge and hurt someone with a punishment it behooves us, as adults, to also send a message of compassion to our young people. We put so much pressure on our young people in today's social media age that we forget these kids still have a lot of learning to do. Malik is a tough(he has been hurt most of the season and continues to help entertain us) but fun loving young man and you can tell that from a distance(as I have yet to have the pleasure to meet either of these young men involved in this incident). There are ways to help young people(counseling, community service, etc.) paired with an actual punishment. Again, do not lose sight that we can use this as a teaching moment and support these young people in a way to help them to handle situations much better than they did this week. Best wishes to all involved and "Once a Duck Always a Duck".
I am behind the administration regardless of the outcome or public outcry for leniency which, to be clear, is what I support.

This is a harsh treatment and should be considered triple jeopardy because he was suspended from school kicked off the team and is being sent to an alternative school for 45 days. We need to reevaluate how we disipline our students.

Taylor ISD is Corrupt and Harsher Towards Minorities Then Caucasians .. The School Board is so corrupt The Superintendent Wont even Answer my mother calls anymore .. This one thing could hurt his entire future ..
