Save Malibu Teachers

Our children are our future, they deserve an education. Malibu Schools deserve better than what you are proposing. Go back to your budget meetings and design a plan that has the best interest of our community, our children and our tax payers dollars. We need our teachers, now more than ever. Please reconsider your thoughtless ways, find a different path that involves hearing from our community and finding a solution that will fit our needs and your budget concerns. It can not be that whenever you fall short in your planning for the SMMUSD, that you attack Malibu's already limited resources. Mrs. Tafi, lives in our community, understands the challenges our children have endured these past 2 years and has been paramount in supporting our children through these ever changing times. Why should a teacher that lives in our community, that has endured the tragedies of this community be transferred to another ??? This does not make sense, and is unacceptable on every level. Do a better job at working with our community and please keep your promises! Thank you

Please value our children's education by protecting and supporting our teachers. Please value pubic school teachers by providing them with the security they deserve in uncertain times. My daughter is in Ms. Tafi's second grade class. Mary Tafi is an outstanding educator and the school is fortunate to have her. She has completely transformed my daughter's social, emotional and academic experience at school. My daughter adores her and looks forward to going to school every day just to see her. She has given my daughter a love of learning and a sense of worth that only a gifted mentor can instill. In the current economic climate, I would hope a government school could ensure protection for all of their teachers. Thank you for your consideration.

I love Malibu high staff dearly

This is is so disturbing and destructive to our community that has suffered so much loss this past year and half. Our community supported your plan to better schools with Measure M, we were made promises by Dr. Drati, that have been continuously broken! Now, you want to strip us of our beloved teachers that have been the glue in rebuilding our community from the terrible destruction of the Wolsey fires, the wonderful educators that have given our children peace, and security in these trying times! Shame on you, for constantly treating Malibu as if it were the wicked step child of the Santa Monica School district. Our community and all the wonderful families that reside in Malibu deserve the same respect as Santa Monica, we pay our taxes to have the basic amenities allowed for our children, such as an education and state of the art schools. We have endured the merger of our elementary schools, with great success due to all of the teachers, faculty and staff that make up this brave community in Malibu! Mrs.Tafi, is my daughter’s 2nd grade teacher, her ability to inspire our children to learn is something to be celebrated and acknowledged! Mrs.Tafi has given my daughter an excitement for learning, tools to keep calm & valuable insight to keep our daughters education on track! Our community, our children and our schools need Mrs.Tafi, Ms. Harradine and Ms. Hammack. Please stop trying to tear apart our recovering community, allow us time to re-build and stop using our tax dollars to benefit all of the schools in Santa Monica while we keep suffering and enduring broken promises and planning for our 4 schools in a Malibu! We deserve consideration, and our children deserve an education to be successful in life! Please reconsider and keep your promises! Thank you

All the teachers and staff I've had the pleasure of knowing from Malibu Elementary (and the former Juan Cabrillo) are the most warm, dedicated, and welcoming people. We are here for you! Keep up the amazing work :))

PLEASE do not combine classes and cut teachers. These children are our future.

Please consider the unique small town-like community we have in Malibu. Reducing our staff and increasing our class size would detrimentally change our schools for the worse, we don’t want parents to transfer their kids to private schools. Let’s keep our public schools relevant!

We love Ms Tafi and she was who saved our child’s class a few years ago when the teacher left for multiple weeks due to a terrible situation with parents bullying a special needs child out. Please do not remove her. She is a precious resource in the district!!

If there was ever a time to preserve some aspect of stability and ensure the quality of learning for our kids, it is now. Fires and pandemics haven’t killed us, so please don’t kill us by hurting our precious educators and schools.

Small class size is key. Stop reducing teachers - they are key to building a strong nation.
