I am totally opposed to this development going ahead. The Talbot family who owned Malahide castle always wished the castle demesne to be for public use. It should be kept this way.

The forest at the proposed location is one of the most special parts of the castle grounds. It's beautiful , peaceful and as the surrounding areas develops it will be a rare place to find nature. It should remain as a park , not an amusement park.

The inadequate publicity and low level of consultation indicates how seriously the public view is taken by Fingal Co Co. The tranquility of the Castle walks provides a location of peace and quiet for the public. this should not be allowed to be commercialised in any way.

I emailed the following to our two local reps who voted for:
Dear Councillor,
I note with dismay Fingal Co. Council's vote to cede part of Malahide Castle's precious woodland to a private company which plans to construct a Zipit line as a commercial venture, and your own vote in favour.
I can't help thinking that, if the present council had been in charge in the mid 70's, we would have had housing from the main gate to the castle' front door.
Shame on you, and every other member who voted in favour.

I thought short-sighted councillors were a thing of the past with the demise of the Celtic Tiger. How on Earth the people of Malahide are not out on the streets,shouting from the rooftops that this Idiocy has to stop, beggars belief. It is such a magical place to visit and especially for kids whose imaginations can run riot in a place like that. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Time to Take back our precious places.

St Sylvesters GAA club may have " supported " the motion but they singularly failed to canvas their members opinions .
I am a member of the club and also a member of the executive committee and this issue was never discussed at an executive meeting in any meaningful manner .
