We, the undersigned, demand that the Bainbridge Island Parks & Recreation District (BIPRD) keep the Madison Tot Lot park at its present location. The current, wooded site is centrally located, accessible to others in Bainbridge Island, shaded, quiet, and above all safe for children. Although it could be improved, we are absolutely opposed to the proposed “land swap” arrangement under consideration by BIPRD, which would eliminate the park and create a new, smaller one at the heavily trafficked northeast corner of Madison Avenue and Wyatt Way.
The Madison Tot Lot park – like all other publicly-owned open space in the heart of downtown – is part of the common wealth of Bainbridge Island! The proposed BIPRD action would create unacceptable hardship for Bainbridge Island Residents. The two locations are not of equal value as public parks, and both the City of Bainbridge and BIPRD must not give away public value to private interests.

BIPRD officials are still ignoring our concerns about the land swap but our growing list of signatures is making them impossible to ignore. This park is a reprieve the the density of inlets area. It's location is beautiful and sheltered from the danger and noise of the road. A gem for local families. A place easily accessible to so many families. Kept where it is, it serves our community best. New slogan: Improve it, don't move it!
Because it is away from the roads, parents can relax and let their children run and play more freely! Also, on a warm summer day, this is such a shady oasis in the heart of our busy downtown--especially with the family housing coming on line in the area!
Don't sell out this lovely, peaceful, wooded, safe place for young children and move it to a busy corner! Two "equal" plots of land are not interchangeable in this way - and once this little park is developed, it will be gone forever.
PLEASE preserve this important and wonderful park!!! In the high density winslow area there are already too few places for kids to play! If you look at the apartment/condo to free space ratio you will realize this is a Must Keep!!!
This is such a lovely, quiet park in the middle of Winslow. Perfect for parents to bring their small children or their sensitive children that need it a bit quieter. Please save this partk!
Stop sell our kids natural endowments for the profits generated by developers. We live here for the green space, and quiet rural lifestyle. Leave it alone!!!

Improve the trail connection from Wyatt and leave this park where it is. Who in the world would move a "tot lot" so close to a busy arterial road? I can see the developer's angle but not how this is in the interest of the community.
