In 1986, I moved to my home on the corner of Partridge Drum and Arrow Wood Place. The woods behind my house were beautiful until hundreds of trees were cut down on two different occasions. What a pity! Then our forest was attacked by Global Foundries and created huge traffic problems, 5 roundabouts, and may more hundreds of felled trees. What a mess! Now we think we need a new state trooper facility in the middle of another part of our forest near May Apple and Partridge Drum! Why can you not just leave Luther Forest alone and build a new police barracks right where the old one is? PLEASE! ENOUGH!

We need to keep the walking path free and clear for pedestrians such as bikers and walkers, especially those with children to utilize. I see very young kids using this space for exercise in nature every day. This building will only discourage usage and given that Malta is already not very walkable, we need a pedestrian priority space to remain available alongside the existing forest and natural scenery. This is important for the local wildlife habitats who are already encroached upon enough as well. There are other locations where the building can be put up.

The state police station is right up the street - why move it? We moved to this neighborhood for the peace and quiet it offers. And the woods there create a buffer to noise. There are 10 acres across Dunning from the proposed spot for sale. Why can’t that space be utilized?

Yes, it is irresponsible planning and I moved here to get away from concrete and blacktop and to enjoy green living. I think the town planning board is in this to promote development. It is sad to see that Luther Forest planned on green integration and that is not the case, it is more about clear cutting, congestion, and building mammoth developments with no regard for the environment and wildlife.

Choose location that will not negatively effect an established natural, wooded environment, or the Luther Forest neighborhood.

The Luther Family established the Luther Forest Preserve to protect these 7,000 acres of forest for the preservation and enhancement of the community, (see Declaration of Covenants Luther Forest Subdivision #4) not to clear cut existing mature trees. There are more appropriate (and safer!!) locations along the Route 9 corridor for a police station. The access for the proposed location would cut across heavily used bike and pedestrian paths, and is close to a fast moving round about. Besides the traffic and safety issues there would be noise concerns, light pollution and storm water run off mitigation.

Don’t let them tear down the last parcel of mature growth forest which is the entrance to the Luther Forest neighborhoods.

Keep what little “Forest “ is left as a forest
Greatly concerned about impact on traffic.
