The new claim by council mayor and deputy mayor that it was a "mistake" in the plan to include this area as part of Burbank some eight years later is untimely, belated and false. There are alternate Island locations like along the corridor by City Hall.

We would not need more parking spots for Mercer Island residents if we had a dependable public transit and good bike lanes. Let's not tear up our beloved park for a "temporary" park and a pipe dream of "Mercer Island resedent only" parking.

It is obvious that the City Council has sold out to the developers by turning SE 27th Street into a parking lot with condos and apartments. This I am sure has been done without ligitamate environmental impact studies. Now the City Council wants to further damage the character of Mercer Island by conspiring with Sound Transit to the detriment of the people who live on Mercer Island. It might be time for a recall election since the City Council is not acting in the best interest of we Islanders.
