I have had the extreme pleasure of meeting Lucas at Lazy one fine afternoon. I'm a main campus girl myself, but seeing the way he interacted with my friend made me see the type of close knit relationship dons have with their houses in West. It would be an absolute travesty to remove Lucas as a Don.

I transferred from Victoria Hall to West campus and when I met Lucas he treated me as if we had been friends our whole lives. He sat on my floor and chatted with me and my roommate just to make sure we were feeling comfortable and happy in our new home and was just so friendly and calm. I believe his main goal was our safety and happiness in not only res but at Queen’s university in general and if we were struggling he was more than willing to bend over backwards and help us in any way possible. He was not like a traditional don but that’s what made him so special. I think he really understood us and it was the mutual respect and kindness between him and his floor (and beyond) that made everything work so well. I only got to have him as a don for a short period of time but he definitely left a lasting impact and it would be sad to see him go.

As a West student not even from the LCD house, Lucas has made an effort to reach out way beyond his own floor and connect with me, asking me how bake sales have gone and inviting me to floor canoeing trips. I've seen how happy his kids are. The floor is safe and functional, so wherever the concerns being raised about Lucas are being sourced from, are clearly not coming from his floor residents- and I would hope you agree that their safety and happiness are the priority here. Please don't take such an influential figure from their community.

"Hey, so I was thinking about this activity for us...."
"If you guys want to do something, let me know"
With these words said from our Don, Lucas, I don't think I could ever adjust to a new Don.
When I first moved into my room on the first floor of Douglas, there was a note posted on the door saying we had a floor meeting that night. I'm generally a shy person and at first I was not going to that meeting. But then, Lucas came. He complimented me, asked me how I felt, and how I was liking my situation. That was all I was expecting from a friend. My Don. Our Don. Lucas Wang.
I am safe, functionally well, have friends on my floor, doing academically well, and have explored many of the services on Campus. Given that Lucas has assisted me greatly with that and has helped others in doing the same thing and/or even beyond, I believe that Lucas has gone above his expected requirements as a Don by making me, as well as others feel this way. And now you send me and the Lower Curran-Douglas community an email about us losing him, his kindness, his comical personality that keeps me smiling every day, and his caring attitude. I am not okay, and neither will others be.

Lucas wang is a great don, from day one he made our transition into res life as smooth as possible. Most importantly he paid attention and was sensitive to the ones who needed more support. He means the world to the community of lower Curran Douglas.
