They actually backed down and the center is staying open so I am honestly just sitting here crying a little bit because I still cannot believe we pulled this off. It feels like a massive weight just lifted off my chest and I really hope everyone realizes how much this …
This petition is to save Longshaw children's centre we the undersigned call on Blackburn with Darwen Early Years Service to withdraw immediately their plan to close this outstanding ofsted childcare provider, It is essential this centre can carry on providing childcare to local working parents and studying parents and whom has 70+ children on its waiting list! They provide fabulous and affordable childcare for these families whom the only option to them will become a private nursery with limited spaces in the area and quite costly !!! Another option is a childminder who are also limited in the number children they take.
I have been staring at the computer screen for hours reading the stories you all are leaving in the comments and my heart just breaks for these families. The council is still acting like this is just a spreadsheet issue but they clearly have no idea how many actual lives they are going to turn upside down if they lock those doors for good.

this is bad news for working parents. 70 kids on the waitlist should tell you everything you need to know. keep it running.

Typical. Cut the services people actually use. Leave it alone!

private nurseries are way too expensive for most people in this area. keep the center open for the community.
