Ridiculous idea to close it. You only have to stand next to it for 5 minutes to see how often it is used by motorists and pedestrians.

This will virtually, and for the most part, physically split the town in two just leaving 'two' points of crossing by vehicle. The railway line, runs through this town that is nearly 2 miles in length!! Ridiculous esp for pedestrians. Think again.

Until such a time that the railway is so busy that there needs to be a bridge / underpass built here the level crossing is the most sensible way of the road and railway sharing the same spot.

What a ridiculous idea, closing this crossing will mean children, elderley, disabled will be cut off from vital services and amenities. I understand safety concerns, but network rail should concentrate on rural crossings where there is history of near misses and accidents, rather than this vital crossing

There is no safety issue about this level crossing, as all trains have to stop at the signal, operate the gates and only then can they proceed - at about 5mph. Closing it would cause more pedestrians to use the foot crossing a couple of hundred metres north, potentially more dangerous, although still minimal risk.

This would be a complete disaster for the north end of town. Closure will divide the town and make access to facilities very difficult across railway line. I see no safety issue with the crossing in its present form.

This would have drastic knock-on effects on traffic in the whole town - apart from causing major access problems.

This would split the town in half and must not be allowed to happen. Many business's will suffer and that is a cost too high for the sake of closing a level crossing

I use this crossing on a daily basis for school runs and shopping I find it ridiculous that you want to close it considering the trains only run a few times a day

Once again this is pushing all traffic past Tesco. It will definitely be very detrimental to the existing businesses around the crossing vicinity.
