Having band camp as a freshmen helps you get to know everyone to be a team for the competitions! It was similar to having a summer camp somewhere else. It was the best experience for me every year!!

Band camp is too important to the students to throw away. It is where we become a family and my Marching Knights family was the most important thing to me in my high school career. SIAM

The parents pay for this each year. Why is it being killed? This shouldn't be a budgetary concern. I don't understand why this even came up for a vote.

Band camp is an irreplaceable component of the marching band season. It is the catalyst that ignites the tactical execution of the field show. Band camp is also the cultural epicenter of the Marching Knights and all of the other Lincoln-Way schools (don’t know how many there are now). For those attending the meeting, please find out how much money the administration needs to sustain the program. I have confidence our alumni network – broad and deep as ever – can raise the funds. We should consider raising an endowment that can fund band camp for years to come.

Real world experiences are more educational than any chapter in any book!! Isn't the best way to prepare any student for life experience by guiding them through some.

I agree wholeheartedly with Jen Marquardt. Favorable life experiences help mold our youth into well rounded individuals. My favorite memories from high school happened during camp. TBONES '99

Two of my daughters particapated in the Lincolnway band program from 1995 through 2003. My husband and I were very active in the band booster program at that time. We feel the band camp experience was beneficial to all the band members. It is necessary to build a team as well as individualism. Especially in this day and age some of the students have never taken care of themselves at home as well as away from home. It teached independence, build comraderie and life long friendship! I feel the is a very worthwhile experience for the band students.

Taking band camp away form the students would be such an injustice. There are few opportunities for students to really learn discipline and the rewards of a hard days work, as well as the ability to create lifelong friendships

My son Joshua is recent Lincoln Way graduate and a 4 year Marching Knight. I strongly support this petition and feel not having a band camp would be a terrible for these fine young people. The band camp experience made such a difference in my son's life. It taught him teamwork, resposiblity and independence. I strongly believe his band camp experience made the transition to college so much easier.

The character and discipline learned at camp is priceless. Having a local day camp will not build the unity in the same way. If you want the same reputation of excellence to continue, then I urge you to keep investing in a week away at camp.

Having band camp off school campus not only is the experience a terrific teambuilding & bonding experience it also helps the band directors keep the kids focused and insures that the students will be there everyday at every practice. Many memories are made at band camp and it is a great experience that each one of my 3 kids have all gone through as well and we all can say it is such a great time and should not be taken away.
