The Marching Knights needs EVERYONE'S help. LW administration has decided to stop the band from going away for band camp effective immediately. Please sign my online petition to save LWC band camp and attend the Board of Education meeting on Thursday, February 13th at 7 PM at Lincoln-Way Central. If you have a Red Marching Knight Alumni shirt, please wear to the meeting in support.

The character and discipline learned at camp is priceless. Having a local day camp will not build the unity in the same way. If you want the same reputation of excellence to continue, then I urge you to keep investing in a week away at camp.

Cancelling band camp is the worst idea possible. It was the foundation for growth, trust and lifelong friendships. It would not be possible for such a large group of people to bond together as one and create the skillset needed to carry on awesome traditions. Color Guard, 2000

Perhaps this brings to light a larger issue that is within the district. If the budget is so tight that they have to cut something with such minimal cost....obviously the money isn't being handled properly in the first place.

Coming from a marching band student, I couldn't imagine what our band would do without band camp. Having those couple of days together introduced the freshman into band as something very enjoyable and the whole trip unifies the band.

Going to band camp was one of the band experiences that taught me how to be responsible for myself: to be on time, to be prepared, and how to budget my time. It helped shape me in to what I am today - a responsible adult.

As a Marching Knights Alumni and former Marching Knights parent I feel it is the wrong decision to cancel such a long standing tradition of a group that Prides itself on tradition.I truly feel the administration is making a huge mistake in this undertaking

I can remember the profound impact of band camp on my own experience. It would be detrimental not just to the band's performance ability but to the growth and development of the children to cancel the camp. As an L-W alum, I urge the board to re-instate the camp.

If parent support exists, band camp is a critical opportunity to build relationships and a strong musical program.
