40 years... and this is how the school treats him? Wow. Looks like someone had a little cash, and squeezed lil Bill out of his business. That guy is a jerk. As for lil Bill, I really do hope that UCLA invites him to their campus to continue his passion. Good luck lil Bill and family.

Why wasn't Lil Bill courted to be the Bike shop in the village???? Would they have even thought to open one without his example??? You're destroying a family business!

This is a very real example of the dangers that gentrification can pose. This guy is working hard to make an honest living. Let's do the right thing and let him keep the life he's worked so hard to deserve.

As a graduate of UC Santa Barbara, where we had a low-cost non-profit university run bike shop that allowed students to maintain their bicycles in safe condition where many otherwise could not afford to, and also as a current employee of a law firm specializing in retail leases, I implore USC to request to amend the terms of their contract with the proposed new bike shop in The Village.
This lease should never have been executed without community input, and the costs of breaching contract with said new bike shop would be justified by the lower-priced services of the family-owned bike shop of Lil Bill.
The value of the lease with the new bike shop would not be dramatically diminished by adjusting the terms to allow Lil Bill's shop as a one-time exception to their non-competition clauses.
Administrators of USC, please do the right thing and stand with your students and your long-time community fixture, Big Bill's Bike Shop, not with your profit-minded attorneys. Thank you.

I hope USC let this gentleman stay on campus. He is providing and invaluable service and it is a great way for the community to show support for small businesses.
Come on USC make me proud.
Put lil bill in the village
