My family has been traveling to Lido Beach for years and love the fact that there is a significant public access portion of the beach. There are enough businesses already and this proposal is not needed or desired.

Leave the uniqueness of Lido Beach in the Pavilion alone... so many things in Sarasota County are being transformed into this big Urban mess which it looks like a bunch of cardboard condos going up and nothing is unique in Sarasota anymore it's all cardboard boxes going up selling for high dollar can't we leave something unique in Sarasota like on Lido Beach...

This is about diversity and choice. This is a quiet charming place, chosen by people who just like quiet. You can enjoy it no matter who you are or where from, with lots of money, or no money at all. Don’t take that choice away from the community of the Lido island, the City, the County, the Country, and the rest-of-world visitors. This is a park. There already exist plenty of other commercial/party/noisy/expensive/bright lights beach locations nearby and all over (Siesta, Bradenton, Daytona, Coney Island, Atlantic City, Miami, wherever). Leave just one quiet place on Sarasota’s coast for those who only want to consume nature and nothing else, and enjoy a little tiny patch of peace and quiet contemplation, chat with friends, walk with loved ones and family, take photographs, and just be among nature. When I want to dine or drink and dance at a bar, I’ll go downtown or to St. Armands for that; we are saturated with bars. Don’t bring it to the beach, especially north Lido beach – it’s just wrong – is nothing sacred? Stop trying to overcommercialize this unique beach and nature reserve by handing it over to a group of noisy chain restaurant/bar and chain hotel operators with intense plans. - It is not what your job as custodians of this City is, and it’s not what most people who are showing an interest in the location, want. If you continue, you are taking away diversity and choice of recreation, and foisting a massive culture and character change on a neighborhood of people who didn’t opt for it when they were born, grew up, or came here and started paying taxes and voting for you. You are custodians of this amazing, fragile, city and beaches with unique wildlife; never forget that privilege and responsibility. A small bathroom refurb and close the facilities at sunset so you don’t disturb the animals after that – is all that’s needed. The simple fact that the City of Sarasota would take away public beach parking from thousands of taxpayers for the benefit of a private business is shocking. It is almost equally shocking that City is offering to rent this One of a Kind Gulf front property for $ 6,500 per month when a professional appraiser would most likely value the lease at 4-5 times this figure. Who made the decision to offer the lease at such an enormous discount?

I am a resident and registered voter of Sarasota, FL. I frequent Lido Beach and send my out of town visitors to Lido for the pristine beach and laid back venue. I am against this type of monopoly improvement by the City of Sarasota.

Please no Daiquiri Deck or similar. Dont ruin Lido I have lived here all my life and grew up going to Lido and still do. Dont turn it into party central like Siesta!!
