My parents moved to Sarasota over 30 years ago so in many ways it is a home away from home for me. I watched the growth of the city happened. In some ways growth is good, but should not happen at the expense of natural beauty as in the case at Lido Beach. My parents first lived on Siesta Key and we loved visiting that beach and it’s beautiful sand. As we got older, we began spending more time at Lido. We love the old Florida feel of the beach and the condos across the street. The area has so much character and soon became our preferred beach. It would be such a shame to convert this park into what is proposed. There are restaurants clubs and shops nearby at st Armand’s. The beach should remain a park and not be taken over by parkomg lots and commercial restaurants. And the pool should remain for all residents and visitors, not just for those that can afford to pay for $100 cabanas. It is nothing short of ridiculous. SAVE LIDO PAVILION!!!!!

My parents have been residents and property owners in Sarasota for over 30 years. I visit the city frequently and my favorite place to go is the public beach on Lido Key. I love the relatively quiet, low key atmosphere at the beach and the pavilion. Even though we can stay with my parents, my sisters and I also often choose to rent hotel rooms on Lido beach for this same reason. Whether or not we choose to keep property in Sarasota will actually depend greatly on what happens to the Lido Pavillion and public beach. Please do not destroy the wonderful atmosphere at Lido. Not only for many of us who enjoy it just the way it is but also for the environment long term. It is no secret that more development will threaten the beach and make it more vulnerable to erosion than it already is. Please consider the long term not just the short term for whomever stands to make money on this new development. It’s simply the right thing to do for the natural environment of Lido Beach. If we don’t protect it, EVERYONE loses!

We've visited the Lido Pavilion over last 4 years, from the UK....it would be such a shame if it was closed down, as we love the friendly community atmosphere. This place is all that this part of Florida is about... community. Good luck everyone in saving this lovely place. Xx from us in the UK. Xx

Have been visiting Lido Beach for 25 years. I do not support privatizing the beach. Maintain & improve existing pavillion.

I own a condo across from Lido Beach since 1990 and not fixing this beach would directly affect our rentals. Very sad what Lido Beach has become.

If the city would have maintained the property better we would not have this controvesy now. Please keep our local neighborhood beach without a large bar atmosphere.

The charm and beauty of this area will be destroyed by commercial interests unsympathetic to the best interests of the area

I remember going here as a child, enjoying the ice cones they sold and the pool. Please let other children enjoy this beach.

Justifiable rage! Leave some beachfront amenities for the people! It cannot be all about making big money.

Lido Beach/Pavilion is my favorite beach that we have found since moving from Pinellas County. Mostly for it's easy access and totally relaxed feel. Do NOT take the Pavilion down and make it more commercial!! Some Florida beaches need to be kept Low Key!
