Lido Beach is one of the last great, old Florida feel, beaches. People come there because of that, not in spite of it. Keep it unique, not just another beach attraction.

Just say NO Integrity Florida, which released the numbers, says that doesn't mean more can't be done. In fact, we might just now be doing a little bit more than the bare minimum. Indeed, the state's grade for “Ethics Enforcement Agencies” went from an F in 2012 to a barely passing D- in 2015.

Have spent time on Lido Beach for over 40 years as unit owner and as a renter. Am interested in keeping the quaint island less commercial. Parking is already a problem at peak times, beach is already used by many who live on and off the island who enjoy the shells, the birds, the food at the pavilion, the available parking. Also not interested in the loudness, the traffic, the potential looters that this commercial proposal would bring. This is not a late night destination island. It is not like you cannot get food, music & ice cream within walking distance of this area. Pedestrian safety, keeping the beach pristine and clean should be of major importance. Lido is a draw for families and we wish to keep it that way. Zone variances create problems and one becomes two then becomes three then Lido as it is known is gone. Green space, water quality, turtle and bird sanctuary areas are important.

Strongly Opposed. Do not do this City of Sarasota. There is no turning back once you do. Our beaches and water should be of the utmost importance, not only for the natural beauty they represent, but for the healthier sustainable resources we should want to leave our kids. I plan to email Vice MayorvJen Ahearn-Koch and Commissioner Willie Shaw, thanking them for doing the right thing. I plan to email Mayor Liz Alpert and Commissioners Shelli Freeland Eddie and Hagen Brody, inquiring why they are choosing to do the wrong thing toward Sarasota's future.
