Lewis is one of the main reasons I felt welcomed at PVPA. He is the most caring teacher I've ever had and even though I wasn't the best student, he motivated me to work hard even the things I wasn't good at.

Lewis always makes an appearance in my personal narrative essays (that I seem to have to write all the time now), as the radical teacher who was the impetus for my need to fight for racial justice - because he truly changed my life. "Through White Eyes" is a unique class and makes PVPA the radical, social-justice committed school that it is. Lewis Goff is an amazing teacher, one that I know PVPA to be proud of. Wherever he is at, I am sure he will touch the lives of so many youth, as he did mine - but we sure are lucky to have him at PVPA. Let's keep it that way.

Lewis was my one of my favorite teachers at PVPA and he always gave me detailed feedback that helped me to become a better writer.

Lewis was one of the best teachers I ever had at PVPA. He nurtured creativity and encouraged students to delve deep in their writing. Letting Lewis go would be a devastating loss to the PVPA community and should not be considered by school administration. I urge PVPA administration to seriously consider what a blow to the education of their students that losing Lewis would be.

Lewis is a valuable and irreplaceable faculty member at PVPA. He plays an important role in the ELA program, as well as the creative and loving culture that we all love about this school. Personally, he always challenged me to think from different perspectives, and he has changed the ways I view the world. He has taught me English lessons and life lessons all in one. It would be an injustice to future students to fire this remarkable teacher.

Lewis Geoff is a valuable asset to any educational facility, and if you can't see that then you most likely need to reevaluate what you think is important in a teacher.

I only ever had one class with Lewis, but it was enough to leave a lasting impact. Not only did he care about the subject he was teaching, but even more so he cared about the students. Stories from my friends--who know Lewis better and had taken many classes with him--show just how revered he was by his students. Lewis is overqualified for the position of a high school English teacher, he makes deep connections with his students and gets them to think about real issues. He makes them care about topics they otherwise might not have, but most astoundingly is the way I've seen him inspire motivation and enthusiasm about learning in even the most resistant of my peers. Lewis is a gem, and if PVPA were to let him go due to handing student's work back late, they'd be doing nothing but hurting the school itself.

Lewis Goff was one of the most important teachers I had in High School.
The way he approaches teaching and learning with students really showed me how writing and reading is a fine art. During my first year of college I found myself returning to skills I learned in Art of The Essay and Writing From Experience for every type of paper I needed to write.
Lewis made me feel heard and seen, important, smart, and valued. I shared emotional stories in his classes and always felt I was given space to be vulnerable and always felt safe and respected. He took time with students, wanted to talk with us, ramble with us, go on long stories that always somehow were circular with us.
I know so many people who share these feelings. Lewis is a really really important part of the PVPA community, from standing in the halls with his laminated memes, to pushing young writers to think about the world differently.
He shows students who find traditional school difficult that we all have something to offer and success can look so many different ways.
In this time where it is so much easier to stare at a screen than to open a book he inspired me to try to read more - bc there is so much to be gained from it.
His passion for writing, his endless quote-ability "I hate writing but I love having written" really is a frequent reference point in my everyday life.
He was a transformative presence in my teen years and I really hope that future generations of PVPA students have the opportunity to work with him.

Lewis is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He believed in me when I thought I was ready to give up. He taught be the importance of education and how to love it. Lewis was the one teacher that aftet I graduated, I went back the next year to see him and I remember introducing him to my family. He made my mom sit down in one of his classes and listen to him.. my mother was moved by his teaching methods that she kept in contact with him after. Lewis does not deserve to be terminated.. HE IS PVPA!!!

I am a PVPA alum class of 2012. Lewis conducted a memorable and engaging classroom experience. His wisdom and advice were essential to shaping my writing skills, especially as I began applying to college. While I know very little about the circumstances leading to his proposed termination, with the information I currently have I strongly advise against firing Lewis given the vital role he holds in the lives of his former, current, and future students.

Lewis is the whole reason that I decided I wanted to be an English teacher. His use of vocabulary along with the comments he makes and the stories he tells, along with the everlasting passion that I see when he rambles on- it gave me inspiration.
