I sign as the mother of a class of 2020 PVPA student who was looking forward to having Lewis as a teacher next year. And as a parent who was hoping my son would have the chance to experiences person who, I have heard, is an amazing teacher.

Lewis was one of the best teachers my daughter has had at PVPA. He helped shape how she sees race in our society personally and politically.

Lewis was instrumental in teaching me to observe and analyze the working of our society, as opposed to being a passive bystander. This is an essential life skill that I believe every person should have.

Lewis provided a wonderful learning environment for my daughter at PVPA. Hard to imagine what set of circumstances would come together to bring the school's governing body to let him go.

I am a parent of an alum and a current student. I know that Lewis' the art of the essay was instrumental in my older daughter's writing skills and was a game changer for her college essay. I am very upset at the idea that my younger daughter will not benefit from his writing skills guidance.

Lewis has made a incredible impact on my life from the classes that I took with him. There are not many teachers like Lewis.

I have not yet had a chance to take a Lewis class but my friends and I used to eat In his classroom and he was so sweet to us. I have been talking to my teachers recently about what I am looking forward to in high school one of the first things I thought was taking a Lewis class

Lewis was such a positive influence on my daughter. He inspired and challenged her. She still talks about his class and him two years later.

I went through something similar at PVPA, and am saddened by this issue. Thanks for starting a petition!

Lewis is the heart and soul of PVPA. There is not one student that has taken his class that has not been positively affected by his incredible teaching. To lose Lewis would means losing one of the only good things left about PVPA.

Every day last year when I would pick my daughter up from school she'd get in the car and say, "I #%*~! love Lewis". Then she'd proceed to tell me what amazing things she learned in his class that day. Lewis taught my daughter why literature matters. Why Shakespeare and Bukowski are still relevant. And that even her own writing is important.

He is a wonderful teacher and does not deserve to lose his job unjustly. I recommend talking to him about the students concerns and talk them out as educated community to improve communication.

Any ability I have to read critically, write cogently, or engage with people thoughtfully, has a direct line drawn back to my time in Lewis's classes.
