I was stunned when our priest told us of this issue. Do you not know of these men and their devotion to Christ? Do you not know that there were five slave states in the Union throughout the war and that West Virginia was admitted to the Union as a slave state? Are you aware that the Emancipation Proclamation freed no slaves in northern slave states? Have you read the biography of the Reverend Mack Lee? Did you know RE Lee freed 18 slaves and not one left his service? If you demand that every person depicted in the windows of the Cathedral have the sensibilities of a 21st century man, you will be making many changes. Please do not allow yourself to be bullied by those who are guided only by hate.

Please preserve and keep the stained glass windows that honor the deceased brave soldiers who gave so much to defend their homes and families. Stop cultural cleansing

It is not right to try and erase our history. If Black, Jewish, American Indians and all other groups of people's heritage is important for them to maintain, then so is my heritage as a Southern American Confederate man! If you get rid of mine then you must erase everyone else's heritage. NO Black heritage, NO Jewish heritage, NO heritage of any kind!

Do you choose to preserve our collective history, or follow in the steps of ISIS, eliminating historical monuments in an attempt to erase a cultural heritage? I hope you choose preservation.
