These windows should not be removed. Lee and Jackson were good men. Jackson freed his slaves and one of them wanted to stay on as a servant. Jackson even wanted blacks to be able to serve in the Confederate Army. Just take Jim Lewis (Jim Lewis served in General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson's famous Stonewall Brigade. He was General Jackson's personal manservant and cook. He was a black man (African-American) and he was a slave at the time, belonging to another. Jim was basically, leased out by his owner to General Jackson, for a price as was commonly done at this time. He spent time with General Jackson in his final moments. To show his importance, Lewis was chosen to be among those leading the procession of General Jackson's funeral. After Jackson's funeral, Jim continued in service, now to Colonel Alexander S. Pendleton (1840 - 1864) in the Stonewall Brigade.
"In December 1875, an anonymous Confederate veteran wrote to the local paper dismayed over the fact that Jim Lewis "lies in a neglected grave in the Colored Cemetery at Lexington without a stone." Also, according to a recent editorial by local newspaper editor Doug Harwood, when Stonewall Jackson's statue was being erected in 1891, "an Englishman offered to pay for a monument to mark the grave of one of his slaves [Jim Lewis]. The town ignored his offer." The entire sad but eye opening article was in the Washington Times on September 29, 2007, titled "Black Cemetery Doubt Remains" by Richard G. Williams Jr.)

Please do not destroy this historical piece. It is history and means something sentimental to many many citizens across this country that know the true meaning of the Confederate flag and the civil war our forefathers fought for.

This is simply an extension of the attempted genocide of the Southern people that was launched by Lincoln and the Republican party. The exact terminology used by Lincoln, Grant, and Sherman in their correspondence was the "War of Extermination." This is just another incident in a long line of attempts to discredit Southerners. Look at how we are portrayed in the media. When has there ever been a Southerner portrayed in film, TV, or any other media who had any redeeming values whatsoever? Any Southerner is always portrayed as an ignorant, immoral, criminal who is also barefoot, toothless, and pregnant. Southerners are sick to death of being targeted for these smear campaigns. It's time to stop the hatred and bigotry now. Preserve the windows.

An attempt at cultural genocide has been launched against the South. Ostensibly, it is an effort to purge its Confederate history, but its ultimate goal is replace the conservative ideals and values of the South with "progressive" liberal ideology.

It is important to preserve out history and heritage. General Robert E Lee and General Stonewall Jackson were they very example of what Christian Men should be. Other men would do well to use them as examples. Does the Church not have more important work? Saving the lost? Feeding the hungry? I guess you are "Church" in name only and not by works and faith. WWJD?

Leave the windows alone. It offends me that someone wants to remove them. A church that does not honor the cross of St. Andrew (Scottish and Confederate Flag) needs a history lesson.
