Deputy DA and retired Orange County Sheriff's Deputy Mike Selyem has dedicated the last 20 years of his career to public service. Most recently, he was the Lead Attorney in the Hardcore Gang and Career Criminal unit where he worked diligently with law enforcement and advocated justice for those who no longer had a voice. Recently, Deputy DA Selyem exercised his First Amendment rights involving a political post. The post was grossly distorted and maliciously distributed among his colleagues and the media. This created a national firestorm in which Deputy DA Selyem was unfairly characterized as biased and no longer able to do his job. His reputation was destroyed and Mr. Selyem was consequently put on administrative leave. In the United States, public employees have forever enjoyed heightened first amendment protection for speech that involves “matters of public concern.” The social media post at issue falls under this large and protected area of free speech. Due to a pending investigation, Mr. Selyem is unable to speak about the matter and cannot defend his speech or his reputation. Please support Deputy DA Selyem by signing this petition.

Look into the whole store and use common sense before you destroy someone’s career.
Mike is one of the most passionate and driven people I know . He believes in what is right and stands up for those who need and deserve it . If we had more Mikes we’d all be better off . Good luck from the ‘North ‘
I know Mike personally and he has never shown any implied or suggestive forms of racism. I am a biracial female and have always been treated by Mike with the up most respect and dignity.
It’s extremely sad how anyone can take “Freedom of Speech” to a different level. It saddens me that someone can try to destroy this amazing man. Individuals as Mr Selyem should be rewarded for his service. Individuals bash this man cause they don’t know him but if they did they would see that he just like a lot of us work hard, an amazing family man and friend. So for those that can only run your mouths without knowing the truth of him, “Shame” on you!! He has my support, without a doubt he is absolutely amazing, Thank you Mr. Selyem for your Service.
You have my full support. Thank you for your service and for being a victim advocate for those who no longer have a voice. I’m sure you have brought closure to many people who have lost family members to violence. I believe in the Constitution and your First Ammendment right #staysaltyselyem

This is A GREAT injustice!! Look all over the internet!!! Numerous ppl from law enforcement and politics voice their opinion freely without being reprimanded! This is low to do to him especially considering all, the work that he has put in and done for our ppl. He isn't a bad guy so why make him to be? Expose whoever started this mess against him and give them the scrutiny that he and his family have gotten, instead!
