It serves not only the local population, which is significant, but also visitors. In this day and age, it seems a retrograde step. Cornwall is NOT well blessed with hospitals.

All the main hospitals are an hour away. This local unit is much needed.

This decision is putting people who live in and around Launceston at risk. The minor injuries unit is well used and much appreciated. My husband cut the top of his finger off in a planner, Launceston hospital 5 minutes up the road were brilliant, stemed the bleeding, dressed the wound, xray and pain relief before the 30mile long drive to Derrifird.

The MIU has been very useful for me in the past. I don't drive and with the current medical situation it's difficult to get through to the local medical practice.

It is a vital department in the middle of a difficult rural area where access is ridiculously difficult for many to be be able to travel. The southwest does not have enough hospitals full stop.

What is our M.P. doing, sitting on the fence as usual. However we have a newish Minor Injuries Unit at Bodmin Hospital. If Liskeard M.I.U. is still closed for some residents well over 50 miles round trips will be the norm. Is this the beginning of planned local hospital closures?
