Launceston Hospital is under threat of closure due to cuts made by the Conservative government.

The Launceston Labour branch are collecting signatures of those who oppose these cuts.

We the undersigned, oppose all cuts to community health and community care services in Cornwall including any plan to close Launceston Community Hospital and its minor injury unit.

We demand that:

1. Cornwall Council votes against the cuts proposed in the Sustainability and Transformation Plan.

2. The Government immediately provides adequate funding to meet the health and social care needs of the people of Cornwall.

The Conservative government thinks they can quietly dismantle our hospital for their bottom line. Hit a thousand signatures by tonight so we can shove these numbers in their faces during the next council meeting.

My dad was in and out of this hospital and eventually had palliative care here. He was close to home and close to us. It made all the difference and the support was amazing. These local services are important to us and make a difference to our lives.

Not everyone can have home care and support. People can be vulnerable in their own home and for some these hospitals are a safe haven and offer support for those who are struggling to care for relatives. These small hospitals are essential....

As an NHS employee in an ambulance trust the closure of the MIU's and loss of community beds from the wards will only increase demand on an overstretched, under resourced service and Accident and Emergency departments already at breaking point.

Cornwall is a rural community that depends on these community hospitals. Access to larger healthcare facilities is challenging due to road networks and distance. Services are further stretched during peak season making access even more constrained.

My 18month old grandson went in there last week with a cut on his head , he was treated right away, glue and stitched , if it wasn't there it would mean traveling 1 hour to Derriford and sit and wait not good with a crying baby !!!

Considering the ongoing increase in population and development in launceston and the surrounding area and the distance from the hospitals in Truro and Plymouth, the hospital in launceston is crucial to the health and well being of the local community.
