Please save the Sunrise Mountain Sports Kayak Center at Del Valle. The offering of kayaks at Del Valle is suck a significant part of what makes that lake a wonderful place to be. Every year our family has annually taken part in the Turkey paddle on Thanksgiving morning for the past 5 years and plan to continue as a tradition. It is something we certainly look forward to and it would be a shame not to see it offered or have any kayaks available at Del Valle in the future.

Sunrise Mtn. Sports is not only local, they are professional and knowledgeable with a well trained staff of professionals. There is no good reason to change vendors.

Sunrise Mountain Sports has done an exemplary job in running the watersports concession at Lake Del Valle. Such good work should be rewarded by maintaining what is quite clearly an excellent partnership between EBRPD and Sunrise. The necessity for review, while clearly important, should be tempered by an acknowledgment of and consideration for this good work. I urge you to maintain our local Sunrise Mountain Sports as the operator of the watersports concession at Lake Del Valle.

Please don't change the concessionaire at aLake Del Valle. Sunrise Mtn Sports has been a great promoter of kayaking sport and provides excellent service. I have visited for lessons and paddles. Having the storefront in Livermore is very handy too. I drive from Santa Clara because I respect the owner of this outfit.

At a minimum, all proposals should be accessible to the public for total transparency. In addition, is there public record of the board's rationale -- point by point -- as to why one concessionaire is being recommended over others? I was unable to find materials for either item on the EB Park's website (http://www.ebparks.org), though I did find the RFP for the concession.

Sunrise has run the watersports concession for so many successful years! What more could the East Bay Regional Parks District want for Del Valle than a local, successful, friendly, family-run business to offer family friendly water sports fun for all? Not only does Sunrise offer rentals, instruction, and demo hire, but also a local venue to purchase water sports gear which keeps profits within the community and supports a strong local business effort- something that is fading quickly in the world of online sales. Sunrise Mountaineering is the quality and logical choice for the Del Valle concession. Kim and company developed it, grew it, inspire it and maintain it.
