Save Kythera's Pristine Skyline! Stop industrial wind turbine construction on the Island.

I Marianina Demetrakopoulos Olcott, PhD, am a member of the Kythera diaspora in the US whose ancestry goes back to a captain who served with Theodoros Kolokotronis in his successful campaign to free Kythera and much of the Peloponnese from Turkish rule and who periodically returns to the island with my husband Douglas Olcott who earned a PhD in Greek Archaeology from Stanford University and then became an environmental engineer. My husband has been part of the opposition to The Cape Wind Project which proposed an offshore wind farm on Horseshoe Shoal in Nantucket Sound off Cape Cod, Massachusetts, that also would have ruined the scenic views from that area.

I am strongly opposed to the windmill project on the island as a member of the kytherian diaspora and a landowner and a regular visitor to the island , this project will destroy the islands beauty and provide minimal benefit

A violation to natural beauty. Kythera is too small to cope with such a large change
to the landscape. It would be an environmental disaster and would effect the wildlife and peaceful serenity that people travel to Kythera for. It degrades the habitat and wildlife. Spinning wind blades will pose a threat to flying wildlife, such as native birds nesting on our peaceful island. Will be an eyesore to the landscape of the island. The disadvantages of wind energy turbines are that wind is unpredictable and not constant. The cost competitiveness is debatable and the noise factor is a huge problem. Kythera is only 30km long.

Definitely NO to the wind turbines. They aren't very economical anyway. Extremely ugly and are known for killing hundreds of thousands
of birds around the world.
