No one is opposed to the principle of Kythera being energy autonomous. The issue is whether to turn a pristine island into an industrial wind farm. The current proposals would permit at least 100 skyscraper-sized wind-generators to be built, which would be visible from every corner of the island. This is not about resisting renewable energy. It‘s about carefully implementing the best clean-energy technologies while causing the least environmental impact possible. It‘s about spreading the burden equitably across the country, and not allowing big companies to rape the land for profit.

Ζητούμενο δεν είναι να προβάλλουμε αντίσταση κατά των ανανεώσιμων πηγών ενέργειας, αλλά να εφαρμοστούν με προσοχή οι καλύτερες “πράσινες” τεχνολογίες με το μικρότερο δυνατό περιβαλλοντικό αντίκτυπο. Ζητούμενο είναι το βάρος να κατανεμηθεί ισοδύναμα σε ολόκληρη τη χώρα και να μην επιτραπεί σε εταιρείες-κολοσσούς να βεβηλώσουν τη γη χάριν του κέρδος.

I have been coming to kythera for over 40 years I’m married to a kytherian. A most beautiful place with many memories. Kythera need to be self sufficient with its own power BUT not this plan. Very much over the top and destructive of kytherian economy and environment.
Our historical island of Kythera has always been protected with strict heritage laws on architecture and stricter environmental forest laws ‘Thasos’. How hypocritical that these Turbines would be considered. Please do not destroy our Heritage Island of Kythera.
A couple of wind turbine for Kythera’s own power usage would be great. But as for a high density wind farm, that’s just not fair, it should be spread across Greece to both spread the environmental impact and reduce the transmission losses.
Wind turbines whose industrial form and scale create an inappropriately discordant relationship with the preservation worthiness of Kythera’s pristine built environment landscape heritage. It is an insensitive and unacceptable proposal.
Don't waste the island with unefficient technology. It is a stop for migratory birds and a place where one can still enjoy SILENCE. Protect it. Don't make experiments and business under the pretext of «green energy». It is not green!!
OXI ! For me Kythera is a very special place/island and to small for this stupid idea!!! I come since 2013 on the island this coming September for the 16 th time, it.s like a magnet !! Keep Kythera clean/as it is! Greetings from Ollandia.
I believe that other renewable energy options should be explored so that any decision made has the least impact on the environment.

The destruction of a beautiful landscape for the financial gain of big business is criminal. The local community opposes the building of such monstrous structures but their voice is not being heard. Stop the wind turbine project.
