Save Knaresborough's Green Belt

Save Knaresborough ’s Green Belt Now!
As part of the District Plan, Harrogate Borough Council are proposing to lose parts of Knaresborough's Green Belt to three permanent Gypsy and Traveller sites in CALCUTT on Forest Moor Road and Thistle Hill. These sites are in addition to the existing formal site at the Thistle Hill / Southern Bypass junction which has 20 plots.
More than half of all Gypsy and Traveller sites in the 505 square mile Harrogate District are sited in an area of less than 3 square miles in Knaresborough and specifically on Green Belt in Calcutt which has a tiny population of 440. In this community we want a fair and diverse society where all people are welcome but we do not agree that the law should be broken by anyone and that we must protect our green belt.
Harrogate Borough Council are treating Knaresborough and Calcutt residents unfairly by:
- Failing to follow national government guidelines and to evenhandedly enforce planning law and policy for unlawful settlements on Green Belt land.
- Failing to fairly distribute Gypsy and Traveller sites evenly across the whole District.
- Failing to protect Knaresborough's Green Belt.
OUR GREEN BELT IS UNDER THREAT and once gone ... IT WILL BE LOST FOREVER
