Kairos Academy is, for the most part, an academy that caters toward disabled people and teenage mothers, two groups of people who need an academy that understands their needs and acknowledges them. Shutting down Kairos is not remotely the answer, especially considering the people who currently attend Kairos will have nowhere to go if this happens.

My cousin goes here and I know if it wasn't for this school she would be another statistic of a teen high school drop out because she got pregnant.

Kairos helped my daughter when traditional school didn't. She's not a teen mom. Depression and PTSD made it almost impossible for her to want to do anything. Heidi and Mr. Lester helped her, encouraged her to do her best. Because of them and this school, she was able to graduate with a high school diploma.

This school, next to my children is the best thing to ever happen to me. Everyone here has been the best. They work with you and understand the struggles. I'm a 21 year old single mother and I was welcomed into Kairos with open arms. Brad the principle has been so amazing with me!! Closing this school would be the worst thing to happen. Everyone is a big family here and it should stay open

Providing a safe environment for teen moms and their kids should be a priority in our community. 3 years is a very short time to offer this and I would hope that the board would consider giving this school more time to function and serve our community. There are several ways to evaluate the success of a school. Please look at the most important impacts being made, not just the ones you're used to looking at. It's very sad when I'm more aware of the number of programs like this that have been closed, and not replaced, than of efforts to help keep them open.

Kairos Academy has given me the opportunity to catch up on credits and even graduate early. Kairos Academy has a very unique learning enviornment that gives girls under special circumstances the ability to learn without distraction.

Hi I am Sandra Alejandre I am writing this petition to ask you and to please do not shut this program down I am asking this because I know how it's really necessary for girls who are pregnant and what's to finish this high school by graduating and being proud of the self's for accomplished their dreams of complete one more step of their goals with this program girls can accomplish their goals and help them be ready to graduate. I think it's beneficial for girls to have this kind of help when they have babies Because I know how it is when teenage girls who get pregnant cant finish school and complete their dreams of walking down that stage with their kid/s and their diploma in their hand because they don't have anyone to help them take care of their babies and dont have a job to pay for childcare. I think this program is really beneficial and ask you to please do not shut this program down because girls are having the opportunity to have the help they need and to help them take care of their kids while they try to finish school and get the credits they need to accommodate their dreams.

Teen mothers may have made a mistake & gotten pregnant but they should be able to rise above that situation and do the best for themselves & their child. They need to have the education to get a job well paying enough so they do not have to live on welfare.
