Buffkin confessed under oath to being the shooter. Judge Tarbuck, presiding over the case at that time, dismissed Buffkin’s account as self-serving and unreliable, even though Buffkin’s testimony subjected to the death penalty. I have spoken with Buffkin and watched his testimony live. His account - and that of the second co-defendant, James Hazen - substantially match Kormondy's. Tarbuck's dismissal of Buffkin's admission to being the shooter was cowardly and intellectually dishonest. Buffkin is far and away the most culpable of the three, but the State Attorney made a terrible decision to offer Buffkin a life sentence if he would testify against the others. Under the equal protection clause of the US Constitution, Kormondy cannot justly receive a punishment greater than life in prison. I am ashamed that our justice system continues to apply the law inaccurately when it is politically expedient. Judge Tarbuck and Governor Scott should be ashamed.

Executing someone is ruled as homicide by the coroner. Who executes the executioner? You are worse than the offenders. You know better and you STILL murder. Just because you are not there Governor Scott, you are still accountable for the crime of murder by not intervening. This is barbaric and obsolete.
