The City of Carson is currently under heavy negotiations to replace Jay's Catering located at the Carson Center for next year (2012).  Jay's Catering has been the exclusive caterer to the Carson Center for over 20 years. They have not only become a community favorite but an extended family for many Carson residents and clientele. Potential catering prospects have submitted proposals with large promises including lower costs; extensive marketing plans and renovations for consideration, but the City of Carson have failed to effectively communicate this major decision with community residents and the public.  How can a decision of this magnitude not have the community involved?

During a City of Carson council meeting held on January 18, 2011, prospect caterer, Choura Events was prepared to replace Jay's Catering within 30 days.  Through the voices of a few residents who were ironically present for other city related issues, were caught off guard and extremely shocked. They were able to voice their concerns but it was very clear no type of public communication had been sent.  Several of Jay's staff and Event Professionals were also present to give the council members support for Jay's. The council extended Jay's contract until a solid decision can be made.

For the last few months since this specific council meeting, no extensive efforts have been made to outreach to the community and let them have their say! It was pretty conclusive based on the residents that were present at the council meeting; Jay's has been a family to the Carson Center and to all residents. 

As an Event Professional who does work with both Carson Center and Jay's Catering, I can tell you this business combination works for the community and its clientele. A catering replacement such as the one they are proposing will not only be a setback but could also infuse a potential financial impact loss for the Carson Center.  People prefer doing business with what is affordable, tasteful and the biggest, personal connection. Jay's has all of this and more.  You cannot find too many caterers with outstanding business practices, excellent customer service and staff who genuinely care about the clients they serve.  With over 20 year tenure, Jay's has proven they are among the elite.

I urge all City of Carson Residents, Surrounding Communities, Event Professionals and everyone who loves the Carson Center to stand with us in SAVING JAY'S CATERING!

With a tough economy, the mere talks of reduced pricing, lower fees and "flashy" presentations can sometimes cloud a thorough decision and lead to loosing valuable assets.  I assure you Jay's Catering is an extremely valuable asset to the Carson Center and the City of Carson.

Please spread the word! A council meeting has been set for December 6, 2011 at Carson City hall to decide on Jay's Catering future. Everyone is welcome to attend, write letter to the Carson Council. YOU ALL HAVE A VOICE! One voice can be overlooked but THOUSANDS will be heard!
