Inkwell Gardens is an invaluable space for those experiencing mental health issues and activities such as the Green Gym held every Tuesday and Thursday help to improve the wellbeing of mental health sufferers. At a time when society has highlighted the severe shortage of mental health services across the UK, the loss of Inkwell Gardens will only lead to further regression of mental health services and in the long-term will incur costs through for example increased absence from work due to mental health related issues such as stress and depression.

I would urge councillors and officials to reject this application as the detrimental effect on the local community and the volunteers who have invested so much of their time and effort into creating a genuinely therapeutic (and productive) space. I arranged a visit to the gardens a few years ago by Alys Fowler (BBC Gardeners World presenter and author) and I'm sure she would be equally shocked at the prospect of losing such a fantastic resource.
