Tennis is good clean healthy fun! We need more courts in NYC, not less!

It would be a thoughtless mistake for the NYC Parks Dept. to eliminate the indoor tennis courts at Sutton East Tennis under the 59th St. Bridge. The East Side community, and in fact all people in Manhattan who play tennis, need MORE indoor tennis courts... not fewer courts. For many years, adults and children of ALL ages have used the courts at Sutton East Tennis on a continuing basis. The Parks Dept. needs to provide the people in Manhattan with indoor tennis courts... NOT eliminate them. I most strongly urge our State Representatives and City Council Members to make the right decision and direct the NYC Parks Dept. to allow Sutton East Tennis to remain in its current location, where it has been for many years already. Sutton tennis is one of the very few places in manhattan for indoor tennis for children and adults,enjoyed and used by many in the community.

I have been playing at the Sutton Tennis facility for years. I love tennis; I love the facility. I live in the upper east side. There are really no other venues to play in the cold weather. The facility has an active youth program. Please allow the facility to stay open.

I could not believe the news when I heard that Sutton East Tennis was being considered for closure. I play tennis there regularly and it always full of adults and children. I can not imaging the city has a better use for this. There are only three major tennis facilities like this in Manhattan now and one of them, Manhattan Plaza, is too expensive for most people. This is a great place for people of all ages. Having had a son who kept himself busy, motivated and healthy with tennis during critical teen years, I especially worry what the young people will do without this facility.

Please save our tennis!

Sutton courts are a valuable asset to the UES and Manhattan in general. Please allow these courts to continue operating. The need for recreational facilities in this city is crucial. These courts serve both adults and families and are an essential quality of life component of living in this city.

Sutton is a vital and necessary facility for tennis players of all ages in the city. Far too many courts have been eliminated in the city solely so that a developer can profit by it.

Sutton East is an incredible facility which serves its community- without it access to clay courts would be almost impossible in New York, and certainly during the long, cold winter months. As an injured person, I am unable to play on hard courts. Sutton East is a special place in a unique location, and would be a great loss should it be closed.

Please, do not take away these courts . So many of our children use them and learn this amazing sport!!! Please please allow them to continue that opportunity.

PLEASE. Save our city from becoming a giant shopping mall of flagship stores and 30 million dollar condos. This tennis club is a very important part of our community. Thanks so much

Please don't close this facility! Finding facilities to learn and to play tennis in Manhattan is difficult enough as it is - closing this facility would deprive many kids and adults from the opportunity to learn and enjoy this great sport!
