I live on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. I learned how to play tennis at Sutton Tennis 13 years ago after my twins were born. I was lucky to find an awesome tennis instructor who taught me over many years of clinics and lessons. His name is Michael Filipek. He is still the head Pro today. Sutton provides a sense of community. It is the only public place to play tennis on the Upper East Side. The nicest most wonderful people work there and there is a high retention of staff and pros. Today, I am now a USTA Captain of 3 tennis teams. Additionally, I play and organize games at Sutton several times a week for many years. It is a sense of community at Sutton and a wonderful way to spend the cold dreary winter days. Over the years, my children have learned to play tennis at Sutton as well. Sutton Tennis has all kinds of wonderful tennis programs for all ages and all level players. Drill and Plays, cardio tennis, clinics and organized games. Wonderful pros give clinics and lessons. It is an incredibly invigorating way to play an organized competitive sport. Sutton Tennis is always busy and adds a great indoor sports environment to the Upper East Side of Manhattan. I have met some of my closest friends playing tennis at Sutton tennis. I live 20 blocks away and I cannot imagine my life without knowing Sutton Tennis was nearby. In the summer there are 26 clay courts at Central Park but during the winter there are very few tennis clubs in Manhattan to play tennis. There is very much a huge need for Sutton Tennis. Please NYC DO NOT CLOSE SUTTON TENNIS. You will be doing the community at large a huge service if you decide to keep Sutton Tennis open. Thank you for your consideration.
