In the past few years, New York City really has done its best to stick it to people who like to play tennis without having to pay a boatload of money to private clubs. They've raised the rates for park permits, making tennis players bear a disproprotionately unfair burden for maintaining the parks.
They're eliminating what sparse courts that are available, making it even more difficult to find an open court without inciting ill will.
Now, finding out that they'd like to close this venue. It's just too much. God forbid there should be a bit of open land for people to enjoy outdoor activities on that doesn't include high rises. Imagine that in some communities, people can play tennis completely FREE. Unbelievable, right?
Keep these courts open and please keep the people who work hard teaching children, adults, and seniors an activity that keeps them healthy and helps foster community.

I have been playing tennis in this facility since 1984. I met my husband in one of the tennis parties that I used to attend. We are married for 23 years.

These courts are a vital part of our neighborhood and community. It would greatly harm the health, happiness and vitality of this area to lose access to this space and these courts. Please do not take this away from us! We beg you!

I've been playing tennis since I was four, and now as a senior in high school I've been recruited at a number of D3 colleges. All of this is thanks to Sutton East. Tennis has not only been my outlet, it has been my happy place. My coaches here are some of the best people I know. If it weren't for Sutton East, I would not be the person I am today. Please, please keep the courts open.

Indoor tennis courts like the ones at Sutton East are a fantastic resource for people to stay fit, play a beloved sport, and foster a sense of community for people of all ages. I have been going to these courts since I was a little girl, when my Dad would take precious time off work to teach me how to hold a racket and perfect my tennis strokes. Please save this space so that future generations may enjoy it as much as I did.

Where is the heart?
We have so few places available to us in New York City and now you are trying to take away our indoor tennis? And what about all the jobs that will be lost? I wish there many more places to play. And now you're taking this? NO!!!
I support indoor tennis underneath the Queensboro Bridge!
