IND was so much more than a school for me. It was tradition. It was family. And quietly literally. My (moms side) grandmother, Eileen Shuster was honored, after her life being taken away from her too soon, by having a soccer award in her name. It was called the Eileen Shuster Award. My aunt (moms side), Laurie Shuster, went there as well. She played soccer all four years. I have 2 cousins who went there as well (dads side) Their names are Lizzy and Maddy Jackson. Their mother and father coached lacrosse. The IND community deserves to have their voices heard. We deserve to have our school.

There are so many reasons to save this school. It is a historic monument in Baltimore City but even more importantly is the education it provided for so many women in our community. Generation after generation of women in my family alone attended IND. I hoped that would continue for generations to come. There are so many female leaders of Baltimore that were taught there. The basis of their ideals were formed by the education they received from this school. IND deserves to be saved.
