Those of us who find interacting on the imdb boards to be an enjoyable and validating part of the entertainment marketplace resent having one of the oldest mediums for online communication taken away from us. Particularly when the stated reason for the decommissioning of IMDB boards has to do with alleged observations that the types of comments posted on the whole do not conform to a particular model of speech. We value free speech, and we are willing to sift through speech that may occasionally be offensive without running to cry to our mommies or the nearest civil right lawyer. In fact, we are so offended by the announcement that IMDB will be summarily shutting down the forums that we have decided to boycott their parent company Amazon.com in a show of solidarity and opposition, until that decision is reversed.
The undersigned individuals have every intention of speaking with their purchasing dollars, as well as their voices, to make their objections known to Amazon.com and IMDB.org.

Hi Everyone, My name’s Jim, and I created http://MovieChat.org as a replacement for IMDB’s message boards. It sucks that IMDB's boards shut down, but I think I've made the best replacement. Key Features: 1. Any movie/show on IMDB is also on MovieChat.org - we have separate boards for each movie/show, just like IMDB 2. I backed up most of the posts for IMDB’s top 10,000 movies/shows - most existing conversations on IMDB should also appear on MovieChat.org - we have over 3 million posts already (and I'm working non-stop to back up even more from IMDB)! dont take them away i have been using these boards since 2004 and they are the only place i can actually discuss niche films with real people
