Sports are important, no matter how big or small the team is. This team is a family and having them taken off the field is wrong. Let them play for the glory of God! I would be devastated if I knew my team wouldn’t be able to participate. COVID was hard enough! Let them play again.

Well written plea and worth a deeper discussion given the alternative options presented and how abruptly the decision was presented to the athletes/student body.

There genuinely cannot be a good reason the dissolve the lax teams. I would hope for better from Houghton.

I came to Houghton to play lacrosse here with this amazing team that Coach Lundeen has put his heart and soul into. Being on this team is a brotherhood and the relationships we all have created are nothing I would trade in for this world. I wake up everyday thinking about the next time I get to play with my teammates because how enjoyable it is. Lacrosse is more than just a sport for me and I do not want it taken away from me.
Let us continue to play. We do not deserve this.

I consider this statement to be thorough, thoughtfully crafted, and beyond apt in its presentation of defense—a wonderful testament to both the resiliency and passion of those alumni of the program. I believe reconsideration is due the lacrosse program, not just as a friend of players therein, but as a student committed to the institution itself.

I hope the lacrosse program at Houghton will remain at their school. Lacrosse can be a deciding factor for many kids in their choice for college. It gives them a sense of belonging and commitment to a team. Houghton is further out away from things to do and lacrosse is something that the kids can do while striving to maintain their grades. Please reconsider taking away a sport that keeps goals for our children possible.

As someone who came to this school to further the lacrosse program and help make it the best that can be possible it feels like that I am being cut from the potential the Men's and Women's teams could have shown with more time. I think that this was a poorly rushed decision and Houghton needs to include the students who this affects (and even later on).

I hope Houghton College reconsiders the decision to cancel the Lacrosse teams. I’m more familiar with the men’s team because my son was fortunate enough to be able to play for the team for the past four years. They were really starting to make positive strides. I couldn’t believe how much they progressed in the 4 years that my son played. What’s even more impressive is they improved even while having a lot of players who never even played in high school and are now playing lacrosse in the empire 8. The team recruited several really good players over that time and if that recruitment could continue on the path it’s been on I really think they could be competitive soon.
Coach Lundeen has been an incredible influence for my son and I know the story is the same for his other players. When you send Your kids off to college you know it’s a place that can be very impressionable and can lead them astray, I’m glad that he had a really good christian man in Coach Lundeen as a coach and a mentor.
I do hope Houghton College reconsiders the decision to drop Lacrosse.
