The council are to blame by directing traffic from the Southampton rd. The road and bridge weren’t built for such traffic. Probably the councillors live in Swindon or afar. Ridiculous!!!!

I fully support the petition to protect the ancient and historically important bridge.

This will only work if it is monitored. Some lorries take no notice whatever the weight limit is.

I believe this Grade 1 structure should be properly cared for.

We live in one of the houses by the bridge and personally I think the 20mph limit is a waste of time as vehicles fly over the bridge, often meeting a car in the opposite direction . The barriers would be a far better solution|!

Totally agree. Although as regards the 20mph limit unfortunately it is totally disregarded!

There should be more signs from both directions to prevent heavy lorries using this route.

Lived in Salisbury for nearly 40 years and the bridge is definitely a part of Salisbury’s history and is something that needs to be protected. Would be absolutely awful if it was replaced with anything modern

I have signed this but feel nothing will be done and yet again this is all a waste of people’s time! We have lived in Milford for 42 years and this has been constantly talked about but got nowhere! The Council just keep making it easier for cars, vans, lorries etc to use this cut through. They do not seem to have any concern for the bridge at all.

Cameras needed and rules enforced if we are to stop this destruction of our national heritage.

Sadly with Police resources stretched I can not see them being able to enforce the weight restriction 24/7. However a cctv solution would be easier to manage. The camera's could automatically issue a hefty fine, something Wiltshire council could manage & use the monies to restore & maintain this piece of heritage.

I agree completely. I am horrified that it is being used by vehicles over 3.5t.

I walk over the bridge at least 2/3 time a week walking my dog. Annoyed at times at the speed some cars drive over it. Also some drivers are to close to pedestrians.

Our city's history is being eroded by these ignorant people. It is time to put a stop to it.

Completely inappropriate rode for the oversized lorries and just totally unacceptable that they are ruining heritage.

Please protect this bridge. It is an inappropriate route for lorries in any case.
