WE have a great need for specialized care in Harford county. We have such a shortage of people available for mental health care. Please , people are dying everyday. We are located centrally between cecil and baltimore county. Perfect location!!

I fully support UM UCH’s plans for a specialty psychiatric hospital/freestanding medical facility in Aberdeen as well as expansion to our Bel Air campus. This is a much needed addition to provide acute health care to our Harford County citizens in need!

I have been a registered nurse of UMUCH for over 11 years in the Intermediate Care Unit and I primarily work as a charge nurse. We have completely out grown our facility and desperately need more inpatient beds to continue to treat members of our community in our community. Almost every shift I work, I have patients waiting for our beds to empty so another can fill it. Most days, there are patients waiting in the Emergency Department, as boarding patients. Increasing the number of inpatient beds will help increase throughput and decrease Emergency Department wait times. In addition to the need for more inpatient beds, many times patients wait for days for inpatient psychiatric beds. These patients would be better served in a psychiatric unit vs our medical/surgical units once they are medically cleared for psychiatric treatment. Help us on our journey to being a part of something greater. #StigmaFree #MentalHealthAwareness #UMUCHDIDITFIRST #YourHealthOurMission

Harford County and the adjacent area are increasing in population and development with a concomitant increase in the medical and mental heath needs of the population. Not allowing the planned expansion of UM UCMC and conversion of UM HMH will negatively affect the community. Additionally this will curtail the future growth of the area. The correct action is to support the UM vision for the area and its residents. Thank you. -Anthony Chiaramonte III, M.D., FACR

Limiting these beds in Harford County would result in a significant waste of resources while patients inevitably wait in the ER.

I support increasing the opportunities for mental health care and this would be a step backward.

The vision is well thought out as shared in the hospital's applications and the State of Maryland should be moving froward without delay for the citizens of Harford County and Maryland. Thank you, David Safferman, MD FACR President & CEO Advanced Radiology

Limiting beds will not be advantageous to the community

Mental health patient are vulnerable by nature of the illness .I urge MHCC to approve the certificate of need so these patients can get the kind of care they need without discrimination and undue hardship.

BHU patients spending days in the ED waiting for a bed is ridiculous. There is definitely a need.

These beds are needed in Harford County. We have inpatient boarders in our ED in a regular basis. This is necessary to give the people of our county the care they need and deserve.

It is unrealistic to think limiting beds would be advantageous to this community

Many patients in our county rely on our psychiatric services and presently many are at a disservice due to prolonged stays in the Emergency Department while awaiting a bed, thus preventing them for getting up front treatment. We need more beds for our growing population.

We need more, not less beds, to provide safe and appropriate care to the residents of our community.
