Save Healthcare in Harford County

In the face of calculations indicating we don't need additional beds in Harford County, our daily struggle to find beds for patients demonstrates that we do. And to centralize all care in one place versus having resources in multiple arenas is not being sensitive to the needs of the populace. Additionally, we cannot ignore the issues surrounding behavioral health and the ongoing need to provide what will be a valued resource to the community.

If you look at the number of new planned communities popping up in the area, you can easily see the need for this plan. Approve this plan so we can serve our growing community.

As a 14yr employee of this healthcare system, I continue to see our leaders make decisions that are in the best interest of the community. Behavior Health, mental illness & addiction is the number one crisis in our county & the state. Harford Memorial is not sustainable and if you do not approve the plans for Aberdeen you will only further debilitate the oberburdened hospital in Bel Air. Please approve the proposal for the FMF in Aberdeen and expansion plans at UCMC.

THERE SHOULD NOT BE A QUESTION ABOUT THE NEED FOR BEDS AVAILABLE IN THIS COMMUNITY - FOR MEDICAL OR MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES. THESE FOLKS LIVE HERE. WE LIVE HERE. OUR FRIENDS IN THIS COMMUNITY SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WAIT >6 HRS IN THE ED WAITING ROOM FOR HELP. OUR MENTAL HEALTH FRIENDS -MANY ARE CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS - SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WAIT FOR DAYS TO GET THE HELP THEY NEED. PLEASE APPROVE THIS PLAN SO WE CAN KEEP MOVING FORWARD. THANK YOU

Approve the plan now, no changes to numbers of beds. Harford county is growing exponentially and the ED's are suffering.

Please help us to keep providing the type of service that the community deserves. The new plans will allow us to better monitor and control what type of service we provide without the limitations that we face with our current conditions. Thank you!

We in Harford County are in need Of Upper Chesapeake Medical Center to increase in size, with additional beds, additional imaging modalities, additional specialized care facilities, like The Kaufman Cancer Center, Diabetes Center, Wound care center and a more modern comprehensive facility to help our mentally ill. With the closing of Harford Memorial Hospital, where is that community supposed to find health care in Harford County? Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, that's where. But where are we to put patients if we don't have enough beds? There's many a night I've been called in to do a stat study from the ER where patients are lining the halls waiting to be seen. And I have been on multiple social media sites where person after person complain about the wait in the ER. Some people say that they have even left before receiving care, only to go to another ER miles away. This county is growing by leaps and bounds. Our healthcare facilities need to continue to grow to meet the needs of our surrounding communities.

UM UCH is a great addition to Harford Country. The community is growing at a rapid pace. The hospital must continue to grow to serve the community and it's needs.

Our community is forever expanding. The evidence of this is everywhere in Harford County. We can not adequately provide healthcare services to the people of Harford County without growing our healthcare community also.

I fully support this plan. Our county continues to build new houses and population continues to grow. In return we need to expand our healthcare facility in order to care for this growing community.

Growing up in this community and then moving back 18years ago I was impressed with the changes in healthcare in our community, I was and still am proud to be an employee and serve the community that is home to me. Now I struggle every shift in the Emergency Department to take care of patients in hallways and available spaces. These challenges are not uncommon to a lot of facilities with no avenue to make the situation better. We have the ability to improve so many things with the proposed expansion and rearrangement of services. In an approximately 50 bed ED it is not unusual to arrive for your shift with over 50% of your beds holding patients awaiting beds to be admitted to. No one sir, including you or you family want to be treated in a hallway or be waiting for a inpatient bed with the constant disruption of a busy ED. The issues in providing care in this manner are obvious. We are held accountable to provide the same level of care 24/7 by regulatory agencies, how do you do that in a hallway ? Please approve the proposed changes

Having grown up in the county and worked at UM UCH for 17 years I fully support the need to expand the Bel Air campus for the healthy benefit of our community.

There is an outstanding need for more behavioral health services in this area, as well as more critical care beds in Bel Air. Please approve the plans for accommodating our needs. Thank you!
