As an ex-farms Director at the RAC, I would urge those in control to think seriously about further reducing the RAU's involvement in practical farming. Prospective agricultural students have plenty of other options and will increasingly take them

Ex student of RAU (then RAC), whats the point of an agricultural university with no direct involvement with agriculture. Just another step RAU is takkng away from what was it’s core initial purpose. All in the name of chasing higher profits.

Land is a finite asset, once it’s gone it’s gone! I was horrified whilst attending the RICS Rural Conference in June to see that the RAU also has the land just off the roundabout up for sale for development. This will absolutely ruin the approach to the University & allow the urban sprawl to continue literally right up to the front door of the University. There has to be other more sustainable ways of the RAU finding money. Please don’t sell the establishments finest asset, it’s land. It’s criminal.

The university needs its farm, not only to teach its students about farm life in a practical sense, but also because it is part of the heritage of the university. RAU is an agricultural university and the farm is an important part of that. To take that away is depriving the student of much needed experiences a lot of the need.

As a former agri student at Aberystwyth I feel that one of the most essential parts of an agricultural college is the college farm.

This is perverse and must be stopped. If the market has proven one thing over the past 20 years it is that land values have significantly outstripped inflation. Selling now is a potential violation of the governors fiduciary duty as well as wrong on a practical level. I feel a challenge to the section 119 charities act valuation coming on.......
